Capturing the Essence of the Methow Valley and the North Cascades
Mountain Kind Photography was created in 2007 by us, Mary Kiesau and Merle Kirkley. This small business currently focuses on seasonal postcards, a 12-month calendar, and freelance and stock photography for local businesses, websites and individuals - all in and of the Methow Valley and the North Cascades.
Here on this website, you'll find all of our postcard images, the calendar photos, and a sampling of other images to give you a sense of what we photograph. The photographs, taken either by Mary or Merle, are an expression of our love for the area we call home. Our goal is to share the beauty and spirit of the Methow with other people who have a special place in their heart for this sweet little valley, and to support and encourage the ongoing care and conservation of the Methow and all the things that make it extraordinary.
We donate a portion (10% or more) of any profit we make to the Methow Conservancy, a local land trust and conservation organization. We are committed to using and promoting sustainable materials and practices as well. Our postcards and calendars are printed by “GreenerPrinter,” a California-based environmentally friendly printing service, featuring New Leaf paper and certified green practices . The greenhouse gas emissions for shipping are offset by investments in renewable energy for net-zero energy use. The paper is 100% recycled; processed chlorine free; ancient forest friendly; and uses soy or vegetable-based inks.
