Identifying and Drawing Animal Tracks: Foot Morphology and Drawing Basics (Jan 3)
Do you like to look at and identify animal tracks? If so, you are in good company in the Methow Valley! Many of us have learned that when we work on drawing tracks we learn so much more about the animal, their feet, how they move - and we become better naturalists on top of improving our drawing skills.
Join Mary & Perri in January for one or two classes on improving your tracking and track drawing skills with a small group of like-minded individuals. All materials are included. It's great fun!
Friday, January 3rd, 12:30-5pm (SCROLL DOWN FOR THE "ADD TO CART" BUTTON): This longer class will include some time outside if weather permits. We'll start by reviewing foot morphology for a variety of species, and what to look for in certain tracks, such as the C, H, or X shapes in negative space, angle and shape of toes, which species lands more on toes or on pads, raised areas in a print such as the triangle in the bear and the inside of an elk print. Then we'll move to drawing basics, starting with shapes and proportion, covering contour and volume, and how to draw the distinction between things that are depressed versus raised.
Tuesday, January 28th, 2-5pm (Click here to sign-up for this class):This shorter class will dive straight into working with your challenges and questions. If you took the first class, or if you are already working on drawing tracks, bring some recent drawings with you along with areas you feel you need help. This "tune-up" class is for problem-solving and more specific one-on-one assistance.
Attend either class, or save $10 when you sign up for both (Mary will refund you $10 at the second class).
Space is limited to 12 people per class, and registration is required. Register here or by contacting Mary Kiesau at 509-551-6714, email@example.com. Contact Perri at 509-557-2299 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about which class is right for you.
